The mission of the Grid Iron Club is to support and enhance the football program through volunteer assistance and fundraising programs, while promoting the highest standards of spirit and sportsmanship.  The Grid Iron Club consists of 4 Officers as well as representatives from each grade level.  The grade reps are responsible for a variety of volunteer opportunities/needs.  (see below for list of duties)

 

The GIC is independently funded, school-affiliated organization of parents who act as a liaison between the football teams, parents, school administration and general public.  The GIC is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit corporation.

 

If you would like to get involved and volunteer your time, please contact either one of the GIC officers or Grade Reps.

12th grade Rep Duties

(Reps are only responsible for coordinating the event..they do not have to do all the work involved with the event. Volunteers will be used from all grade levels for the below events)

1.  Sr. Ad & Bio's

 

2.  Pre-season scrimmage (when it is at our stadium)

a.  Coordinate with President/Vice President and Coach Weiss on a date, time and number of teams.

b.  Purchase or get donations of hot dogs and water: 2 hot dogs per player/coach and 1 water.  Also hot dogs/waters to sell at concession stand.

c.  Coordinate volunteers for concession stand and to hand out hot dogs to all players and coaches at the end of the scrimmage.

 

3. Parents Night Refreshments

a.  Have at least 2-3 parents help get players and parents lined up for introductions, from smallest to largest numbers. 

b.  Coupon for free hot chocolate/coffee (1 per parent) given out in line up.

 

4. Banquet- (November)

a. Coordinate with Coach Weiss and President about date, time and location.  (Locations have been HS cafeteria or local churches).

b.  Decide on a menu

c. Determine cost: Players and coaches free and Families$$$.

 

11th grade Rep duties

1.  Gold Card Blitz Night (August)

a. Find out date from coaches

b. Order pizza’s and get drinks/help serve (Talk to President/ Vice president about this.  Request volunteers to help)


2. Spaghetti Dinners (August-October) before games

a.  Sauce/noodles, Bread, Dessert, Milk: Donations

b.  Schedule help for each dinner – parents of juniors and seniors

 

3. Bag snacks for away games 

 

10th grade Rep duties

(Reps are only responsible for coordinating the event..they do not have to do all the work involved with the event. Volunteers will be used from all grade levels for the below events)

1. Two a day treats – (August)

a.  Ask Secretary to send out a Grid Iron email asking parents to donate and serve treats. 

b.  Ensure that everyday of 2-a-days has parent volunteers to donate and serve

c. Varsity (10-12) and 9th grade – 2 different sign up sheets (due to 9th grade ending before Varsity).


2. 10th grade Banquet – After the last game of the season (cafeteria)

a.  Players are free and$2.00/person for the families or$5.00/family  

b.  Have a good estimate of number for the banquet so we can order pizzas.

c.  Pizza is ordered, Treasurer will get you a check.

d.  Pizza, beverages, chips & desserts.  Have parents sign up or assign this.

 

9th grade Rep duties

(Reps are only responsible for coordinating the event..they do not have to do all the work involved with the event. Volunteers will be used from all grade levels for the below events)

 2. Bag snacks for away games 

 

 3. Concessions – (Same night as Brat Feed)

a.  Schedule workers for the stand, shifts for parents to sign up for

b.  Need to cover shifts from 5pm to 9:30pm.

c.  Food is stocked and bought by the school


4. Distribute Handbooks

Before home varsity games until they are gone


5. 9th grade Banquet – After the last home game of the season (cafeteria)

a.  Pizza is ordered.  Treasurer will get you a check.

b.  Have an estimate of number of players/families so we can order pizzas. 

c.  Players/coachres are free and $2.00 a person for the families

d.  Have parents sign up or assign parents to bring beverages, chips and desserts.
